Final Project
For the Final project it chose to do 12 images that I just recently took because I wanted to show how what I have learned over this semester has helped my photograph what I like to photograph. I really enjoy shooting things just as landscapes, sunsets, animals, and people. I have to say being a nursing major this was a big step for me to take this class but I wanted to do it to have some fun. I have learned so much over the past semester. Each of the projects really helped grow each time.
The very first project really changed my whole mind on what photography really is. It doesn't really have much to do with the camera it has a lot to do with light. It was so interesting to see how the light changes an image. This really helped me when I was taking these final projects because the way the light hits the subjects really can change the way an image turns out.
I also found the Aesthetics and Control very interesting because this is what I have really been interesting in knowing before I took ART276. I am still trying to get a hang of each of the directions and mastering all the controls. This was just an interesting topic for me.
Before taking this class, I enjoyed taking pictures on my hikes and of my animals, but I always shot in auto. After spending time with my boyfriend’s mom and watching her take picture in manual I became very interested but never truly understood what each of the controls did. I watched some YouTube videos, but no one truly seemed to explain what each of the controls truly meant. I am very thankful that I went out on the limb to take this class. I really enjoyed this class and I would recommend it to each and every one of my friends.
Final Response (1/3)
ReplyDeleteJay here from the same class. After looking through your photos that you posted, it shows that you took away a lot from this photography class. I'm the same way too, I like to take photos of landscapes, animals like my dog, and friends and family during good times for capture. In my final post, I explained that learning the controls and mechanics of the camera is what I soaked in the most from this course...always shooting in auto, not really manipulating the camera settings, trying new techniques, etc. After taking this course, it's comforting to see someone got the similar take away as me because I bought a DSLR without really knowing the ins and outs of the camera...I just used it with the auto settings that worked for me. Great photos by the way and good luck on your nursing journey!

Hi Sarah! I think it is great for the final that you chose to take photos of the things you enjoy taking photos of, it gives the viewer an idea of who you are and the things you enjoy in life- I too enjoy taking photos of sunsets. I too did not know much on the controls when it came to aperture, shutter and ISO, but with this class I was able to grow in knowledge in knowing how to use all these helpful parts to the camera. This class definitely was able to help us grow in better understanding of how to use the different settings within the camera, but also learn how to control light. In you images I love the first, fourth and eleventh photo. The first one is able to show bright vibrant colors along with having dark shadows- in which makes the colors pop even more. The fourth photo of the cow shows primarily cool tones with warmer tones as the sun is casting its rays on the cow- which is unique. The eleventh photo I love the reflection that you were able to catch in the water! Overall I think you showed a great understanding of everything we learned within the class. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sierra for your comment. I really appreciate the input that you had on my images to help me grow as a photographer. I think it is so amazing how so many of us had the same take a way from this class! Wish you the best!

Hi Sarah! I really enjoyed your subject matter in these images! I like the way you captured the lighting in the first image! The colors are beautiful and the contrast between the light and dark is great. I love the texture and movement you captured in the 8 image with the dog, the red of the ground really pops against the white. I feel your work has grown a lot in skill and technique and I enjoyed being your partner in class! I agree with your statement about always shooting in auto focus! I never played with the controls or understood them until this class! I do agree it is good to take the time to learn because you should be able to rely on your own judgments and creative skills when capturing an image! Great job and good luck on your education.
