Final 18 Photos
What I learned
Throughout my time in the class, I learned a lot about photography and my style of shooting. I had basically no knowledge beforehand about the technicalities of shooting nor how the settings even worked. Since then, I have learned a lot about how to set the camera, what each setting will do, depth, how to shoot lights and capture movement, and many other things. I never thought about how shadow is just as important as light, and how that makes each shot different. I had a fun time learning in this class, and improved in confidence and knowledge of how I personally like to shoot. I pushed my boundaries each time it was a shoot day and took some risks, some worked out while some did not, but I got to learn and had fun doing so. I even learned about how the times of day and angle of the shadows effect the final pictures, and how different the lighting is. Mixed lighting was an absolute blast, and are probably some of my best shots. Learning how to compose a shot was also a bit of a learning curve, and admittedly a bit hard to keep your composition from falling, but with time that got improved as well. Overall, not only did my knowledge of the camera improve, but my confidence in what I was shooting and the shots themselves improved and I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning about it. The most important thing that I have learned from this was to be confident and have fun with the shoots, which I definitely have. I will continue to take some more photos and learn more, and really pay attention to the contrast of the lights and shadows.
Emily,
ReplyDeleteI really feel that you took a lot of this class more then just how to use the camera and how lights affect images. Which is more than I really thought about but when I look back at it I have to agree with you. I think your point on making sure that you are confident in your images and you are having fun during your shoots really do have an affect on your images. I also have to agree with you that I never really paid attention to how a shadow can have the same affect in an image as just the light. The mix lighting was also my favorite to shoot as well I think its mainly because I love Christmas so taking pictures of all the Christmas lights down on the Riverwalk was just so enjoyable to me. I hope you continue shooting, your images are beautiful and you are very talented! Good Luck on the rest of your education and happy shooting!

Dear Emily,
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your pictures over the course of the class !! I can relate to learning to understand how important shadows are to a composition, I too didn't realize how important they were until I started making compositions that highlighted the shadows! I love your mixed lighting photos the most!! The first photo is so cool and fun to look at. I think you continued to improve in your compositions and I loved seeing you push boundaries and try new things with your photos! Continue to take risks and grow! I wish you luck in the rest of your school career and future career!!
