Emily showed an interesting ability to surround her focal point with the pinecones, this created an arrow effect that drew the viewers eye in. She explained her process in a clear way that demonstrated she knew what her goal was and the steps to take to achieve that. Her theme clearly shows throughout the work, which was centered around bringing attention to a certain area in each image. Her pictures have a strong sense of continuity and good variation in compositions. Emily was able to relate her work to other works in a meaningful way, example being the lighting she used in her mixed lighting was a correlation to the movie The Corpses Bride. Some improvement is needed in her understanding of the technical aspects of the camera controls and how to achieve brighter lighting when the surrounding area is too dark. Overall good work and good job to Emily, keep up the good work.
Emily great job on all of your images. It was very interesting how you made subjects out of the bones and the pinecones. She mentions that she was struggling with the F stop at the beginning of the project. She mentions that she really enjoyed shooting with broad light because it made her images brighter. To make the images it helps her think as if she is shooting a crime scene. I found that very interesting because that is a great way to be motivated. Emily also mentioned that during her short lighting shoots she enjoyed using the bottle to capture the light and then reflect it in the image. She notices that the images she was struggling at the beginning of the shoot were a little out of focus so she wished they were in more focused. As she got to the studio lighting portion of the project the images began to be brighter. She as well felt that twilight and golden hour were harder to focus because they seemed to be darker. Great job on your images Emily I like the way you look at each of you images.
