We really like a lot of the direction photos because of the creativity of your compositions! In particular the direction position photo number one is symmetrical, and the blurriness of the bottles does not take away from the composition. The composition of the direction position number eight photo is also really creative and intriguing. We would suggest focusing your camera more on some pictures, because while some blurriness does not always take away from the composition, there are some photos like the temperature number two photo that it makes it feel like the whole picture is blurry. Also, we were supposed to be taking all the pictures in the monochromatic setting except for the temperature pictures, and the colors of the bottle that peeks through the chipping paint and the tops of the bottles gives it away. The other thing that we would incline you to consider is to not be taking portraits of bottles, but rather to use them as tools to manipulate the light surrounding the bottles. You do a really good job of simply manipulating the light in the temperature photos, but then there are pictures like the hardness photo number 5 that simply look like the bottle is the subject rather than the light. Your position 4 direction photo looks eye capturing, the composition is really interesting and to one of the people in our group it almost looks like a army general commanding his soldiers. You also have really good focal points in a lot of your photos. Overall we enjoy the photos very much and your creativity in the compositions is your strongest skill we think! - Maya Bush, Sierra Sandoval, Jay Ramos
To start off you forgot to capture your images in monochromatic, we noticed the first few had that setting on but then it was just gone. We really enjoyed your creativity with your 5 characteristics you displayed well understanding of direction, intensity, and temperature as well as contrast and hardness but that was a little more difficult to notice with color being used in those images because the focus was to see it's effect with the shadow and its' hardness or softness. You showed a great technique with your images and the quality of the images are also very good! Loved the variety of images that was provided, sadly it was just missing being captured in monochromatic setting.
Very creative photos; however, I did notice that direction and intensity were the only pictures in monochrome, hardness and contrast were supposed to be in monochrome as well. Next time I think you should focus more on the shapes and shadows within the picture, not just the bottles. Some photos experienced spacing issues and sort of took away from the picture. Having empty space is acceptable in some photos, but not mainly in this project. I found it difficult to see the lightest lights and the darkest darks due to the pictures being in color and not monochrome. I think some pictures were out of focus due to the way your camera perceived the bottles and shapes in the image. A way to improve some of your photos would be to pay more attention to the backgrounds and possible distractions in the photo, like your photo with the light showing behind the bottle, and the photo with the white triangle in the top left corner. Its very important to look at your pictures on a larger scale. Temperature photos showed lots of great variations in colors. I liked the warm with the hard vertical shadow. You did a great job at showing the different contrasts and shadows within your photos. Light diffusion phots contained very strong soft and hard shadows, sometimes both in one picture, which was very compelling.
